How to show disgust in ASL? ›

The sign for "disgust" also means "nauseous." Make a claw hand. The movement is as if you were scratching you belly in a circular fashion. The knuckles stay bent in the same position throughout the duration of the sign. The facial expression is one of disgust.

To sign gross, make a face of disgust and rub your dominant hand in a claw shape on top of your belly, in counter-clockwise circles. Another popular way to sign gross in ASL is to take your dominant claw-shaped hand, then make a clockwise motion on your chest.

The face of disgust is commonly drawn-up into one big pucker. The lips curling into a snarling frown, the nostrils flaring, the cheeks pushing up to squinting lower lids and a furrowed brow.

The thumb/index finger side of a b-handshape struck against the chin means "bitch" (contact point is the side of the index finger). "Bastard" can be produced by doing the same sign but locating it on the forehead. The sign for "bitch" is often confused for the English sign "be" or the sign "breakfast".
