Is the Amsterdam Nightlife pass worth it? ›

We and thousands of nightlife visitors that went before you, say that this ticket is most definitely worth it, if you want to discover the nightlife of Amsterdam to the fullest!

The pass costs €10 and gets you into more than 20 different Amsterdam nightclubs (or select a seven-day pass for €20). You can also select one Special Event per day to include in your Nightlife Ticket Package.

The good news is, most Amsterdam nightlife spots don't have a formal dress code. For most places, think smart casual with the emphasis on casual. Jeans and a T-shirt, tank top or party blouse will usually suffice, but always double check with upmarket venues.

Different clubs in Amsterdam has a different age limit for access. Some clubs require that you are not any less than 21 years of age while some other clubs set their own age limit to people of 18 years of age and above, granting more access to people.

Most violent crime is shared between criminal organizations, so residents or tourists are hardly ever involved. However, Amsterdam Zuidoost is still relatively safe to visit during the day, though you may have little reason to. We recommend you avoid going there at night, or travel in groups of two or more if you must!

Find out whats on tonight or for your whole weekend. Friday and Saturday are seen as the two biggest nights out in Amsterdam. People, including yourself, will come from all over the world to experience a true 'Dam week.

Some clubs may have designated smoking areas where patrons can smoke cigarettes or tobacco. However, these areas do not typically permit the use of cannabis. Always be sure to check the specific rules of the venue you are visiting.

The consumption of alcohol is prohibited in the majority of public places in the city centre, but you are of course welcome to visit one Amsterdam's many bars. Never combine alcohol and drugs. For more information about health matters in the city, contact the Public Health Service of Amsterdam.

Opening hours and admission

Clubs usually open their doors around 22:00, and are often open until 3am. In Amsterdam you will also find a number of night pubs, these cafes are open weekdays until 4am and on weekends are open until 5:00am.

Neat shoes are a must. This could be leather or suède dress shoes. Sneaker-lovers can always wear 'stylish' sneakers, as long as they're clean and not too sporty.

Do you tip in Amsterdam bars? ›

This one is pretty simple to answer – the Dutch do not have a tipping culture as strongly-ingrained as much of the English-speaking world. In a bar, restaurant, or private boat tour in Amsterdam, provided the service was good, a tip of around 10% is appreciated but not automatically expected.

Love is created everywhere in Amsterdam. Not the most romantic date tip, but if you are intrigued by the famous red-light district and have a leaning to spice up your relationship some of the women are open to couples if you go to them.

Clubs and bars often ask for ID when you want to enter. You can be denied entry without. The general rule is that you have to show your ID until you're 25, although the legal limit is 18. Even if you're older than 25, when asked by a cashier, doorman or bartender you have to show it in order to buy your goods.

You must carry valid identification at all times if you are over 14. Local authorities may give you a fine if you fail to show them appropriate identification upon request. The following documents, if valid, are acceptable identification: passports.

The local water provider Waternet continuously monitors water quality to ensure it meets high safety standards.

Entry fees to Amsterdam's top attractions can add up quickly, and the card eliminates these costs. If you plan on visiting at least three museums or attractions during your stay, the 24-hour card will have paid for itself.

A must visit when you come to Amsterdam, it is all part of the culture! The canals are beautiful and the actual area itself is nice. This is where you will see the various small “windows” where the ladies are within. It does have that strange feeling, however the general atmosphere was good.
