Steps to Create a Form that Requires Visitors to Enter Email Address to Download a File in Divi

We want to be clear about everything before we begin the tutorial. Our goal with this article, as illustrated in the GIF above, is to have a popup appear that asks visitors to input their email address to get your file when they click the download button on your website.

Step 1: Create a Popup

There are a few things to note when creating a popup:

• Popup trigger: In this particular case, a popup you must create is a click/button trigger; a popup appears when a user clicks on a download button on your page.
• Popup content: As we mentioned earlier, we need an email opt-in form within the Divi Email Optin module as a popup. So, please add a Divi Email Optin module to the popup section.

Step 2: Set up the Divi Optin Module

The above image and GIF show that our popup is prepared. The next step is to configure the Divi Email Optin module so that it can interact with your site. This will allow users to download files when they click the button, and you can collect their emails at the same time.

Email Account Settings

In the module settings, go to the Content tab, then navigate to Email Account.

Selecting the email marketing platform you use is a requirement of this setting. So, please choose your email service provider and your account.

If you don’t have an email marketing provider account yet, please create one first, and then you can continue this tutorial.

Success Action Settings

Under the Content tab, navigate to the Success Action section.

Next, set the Action option to “Redirect to a custom URL.” It means, that when your site visitors have successfully subscribed to your list, they will be redirected to a downloadable file.

Once you do that, don’t forget to fill in the URL of your file in the Redirect URL field. In this example, we get the URL from our PDF file in the media library. Simply copy the file URL and paste it into theRedirect URL field.

It is done. After making changes in the Divi editor, please save the page, and leave the Visual Builder. You can view the final result by clicking the popup trigger button, entering an email address, and then clicking the download button.
